Year 1 Operation Christmas Child

HOW TO PACK A SHOE BOX

Each year thousands of people like you generously pack shoe box gifts to bless children in need around the world. Find out all you need to know about how to pack your shoe box gift here.

Step 1: Find a Shoe box

Get an empty medium sized shoe box, and wrap the box and lid separately in colourful wrapping paper.  Attach an appropriate boy/girl label, marking if your gift is for a boy or a girl. Select an age category 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14 and attach the label to the top of your shoe box.

Step 2: Fill with gifts

Fill your shoe box with a selection of fun toys, hygiene items and school supplies. If possible, include one or two special items you know a child will love such as a doll, cuddly toy or deflated football with pump. See our Gift Suggestions below for more ideas.

Due to more stringent import regulations, toothpaste and sweets can no longer be included in shoe boxes.

Step 3: Drop Off Your Shoe box

Place a rubber band around each closed shoe box and take it to a local drop-off location.

Helping the homeless

Year 2 collected 64 items of food for their previous campaign and they have now been donated to the local food bank. Thank  you so much for your generosity.

Inspired by our previous campaign and the colder weather, year 2 have been researching homelessness. We were shocked to find out over 1, 137 people sleep on the streets of London and the amount of people that are homeless is getting larger.

We have decided to collect warm clothes, coats in particular, to give to those in need.

We have made leaflets on Microsoft Word and we are in the process of creating PowerPoint presentations that we will then show to the rest of the school.

If you are able to donate any warm clothes, please bring them to the Year 2, Doves classroom or the office.

PA Games: Gymnastics

Tuesday 19th November 2019

Gainsborough took part in the PA Games - Gymnastics. The team of Year 5 and 6 students competed against eight other teams across the Federation. The children had to learn a set floor routine and perform their own school routine in front of an audience and judges. Judges scored each performance against children’s presentation, coordination, fluency, posture and creativity. Congratulations to St Matthias on winning the competition.
Gainsborough came in second place with the judges being won over by their creativity in the school routine. Well done!
