Today we are going to teach you how to ask 'What is your name?' in Spanish.

Nursery Animal Prints

Nursery have created these amazing paintings in response to  Animal prints we researched using the class ipads. We are very proud of your attention to detail and brush control. Well done Nursery! 

Hispanic Week

We are getting everything ready for the Hispanic Day.

In Nursery we have been colouring in the Spanish flag with rojo and amarillo.

And in Year 2 we have been learning about the world cup in Spanish.
We made our Spanish passport to visit Russia!

Van Gogh's Sunflowers

In Nursery this week we have been learning about the artist Vincent Van Gogh and his famous painting The Sunflowers. In the garden we have planted lots of seeds that will grow into our own plants. We are learning how to paint plants in different ways.

Today we made our own paintings of Sunflowers using a fork to create the texture of petals. Van Gogh used texture in his paintings too! Take a look at our amazing sunflower paintings...

Fruit&Veg Portraits

In Nursery this week our artists have been making great progress responding to the work of an artist. Our Topic is inspired by the book we are reading: Oliver's Vegetables. We looked at these portraits by Guiseppe Arcimboldo. 

He painted faces using fruits and vegetables for the different features. 

Then we made our own faces using fruits and vegetables. We can name all the vegetables and spot the perfect shapes for eyes, nose and mouth.

La fruta

Nursery is also learning Spanish at school!

We have been learning about 'La fruta' - The fruits and we love dancing 'El baile de la fruta'.

Djembe drumming in Nursery

Nursery have been playing the djembe drums this week.  They are drumming rhythms based on the fruits in the story 'Handa's Surprise'

Nursery are making music!

This week Nursery had a great music lesson.  We did lots of singing, dancing and played our claves along to the music.

Kente Cloth: Nursery

 Nursery had a very fun art lesson today making their very own Kente Cloth designs. We looked at African patterns found on fabric and textiles and talked about the colours and patterns we could see. Then we were inspired to make designs based on a repeating pattern of three shapes. Can you see our groups of one, two three!
