This term in Reception class we have been learning about the weather in Spanish!

We can say what the weather is like:

Sol: sunny
Calor: hot
Frío: cold
Llueve: rainy 

The parts of the face

This term in Reception we have been learning the parts of the face:

-Ojos (eyes)
-Orejas (ears)
-Boca (mouth)
-Nariz (nose)

We played Simón dice (Simon says) with all the words that we learnt:

Minibeasts

Reception will be learning all about Mini beasts this term! We started by reading the wonderful story of The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle! 

We found out that the Hungry Caterpillar transforms into a beautiful butterfly at the end of the story. In Art we made our own butterfly's using mar belling ink and decorated them remembering symmetry!

Angela is very proud of her beautiful butterfly!

Today, Reception class taught their parents everything they know in Spanish!

We practise greetings, numbers, colours and transport!

Art Adventures in Space

In Reception Art lesson this week we have been sculpting Alien characters using malleable Plasticine.  Inspired by our current book Begu and the Space topic. Our Aliens each have their own personalities, we discussed how the aleiens would behave if they found themselves on Earth unexpectedly! Nana asked whether there was a difference between an Alien and a monster! Caitlin is definitely a sculptress, as she was helping everyone construct their shapes and carefully place the colours together! Well done Reception!

Seascape Paintings

Reception students are thoroughly enjoying their Art lessons this term. We are looking into how artists make work about transport and journeys.
We started to paint a background this week inspired by artist Winslow Homer. We talked about his work and what we could see. We all agreed tat to make a painting like this we would need lots of different blues to paint with expression.
