PORTRAITS

Establishment phase is a wonderful time of the year at Gainsborough. We welcome back all our students and celebrate our aims and accomplishments as we move up the school. Our Year 2 artists in Bullfinches class worked super hard yesterday with Ms Britton Field to learn all about a new artist to add to their repertoire ...ANDY WARHOL!

Year 2's Pop Art multiple work is now on display in the classroom. Come take a look and celebrate the beginning of term with us!

Hispanic Day

Last Friday in Gainsborough we celebrated the Hispanic Day!

We had a very special day because all the year groups cooked a Hispanic recipe.

Nursery and Reception cooked: Pan con tomae
Year 1: nachos
Year 2: sangría
Year 3: tortilla
Year 4: quesadillas
Year 5: guacamole
Year 6: tortilla especial.

 We had so much fun! 

We also wrote the recipes in Spanish so we will share a recipe's book with you soon!










On Friday, we learnt Flamenco music and dance!

Digital Art: Year 4

Year 4 have been exploring the fundamental of Digital Art in lessons this week. They responded to the artist Kandinsky by producing digital artworks in response to sounds. 

We learnt how to produce a successful composition by placing colours and shapes across the page to balance the way the eye travels across an artwork. Well done Year 4!

Responding to Music in Art

Year Two have entered a competition in conjunction with the Cavantina Trust to design a piece of artwork responding to Music. These are their designs which a both inspired by the artist Kandinsky and also the very special concert we had at school by a string quartet from the Cavantina Trust. Look out for our designs in the playground and take a look at the examples below!

Year 2 Royalty: Crowns Exhibition

In the KS1 corridor we have a new exhibition of Crowns by Year 2 students. The artists designed and made their crowns in three dimensions responding to a brief.

We are very proud of our skilful manipulation of materials and have achieved the fundamental for sculpture in Year 2 well done!

Parasol Unit Art Trip

Year 4 Hummingbirds visited Parasol Unit Gallery in Angel. Working with a professional artist and inspired by the current exhibition they invented an imaginary city scape.  The gallery praised our amazing students creativity and our critical thinking skills!

Bridges Celebration Exhibition

On Friday we held a special exhibition in the Attic to celebrate the amazing work Year 4 have been producing as part of their Victorians topic. 
Inspired by the famous Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel Year 4 have worked in teams to produce bridge structures in Art lessons.
We loved celebrating the students achievements with parents and class teachers, and talking through our work with others really showed just how much we have learnt abour design this term! Well done Year 4!
