Sports Week and Sports day

Children across the school, from Nursery to Year 6 all had the opportunity to show off their sporting abilities during our Sports Week. 

Children competed against each other in a range of sports such as javelin, egg and spoon race and sprints. Those in Year 1 to 6 then attended the Copper Box for a chance to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals for each event. Throughout the week and at the Copper Box, the children showed excellent sportsmanship, resilience and kindness - we were very proud! 

Our Sports Week was set up and run by Mr Forbes and our team of dedicated Sports Leaders - Teddy, Tommy, Mario, Emma, Marianne and Mimi. Thank you to this team for ensuring children across the school had a fantastic week! 

Los deportes - Spanish club

This week, in Spanish club, we have been learning about sports. We have been making sentences giving our opinion in Spanish challenging ourselves with new words.

Christmas cards from Spain!

We are so happy that we have received so many Christmas cards and letters from Spain, Málaga. They come from our partner school Colegio Félix Plaza Ramos.

The police and everybody in Hackney are looking for some naughty children from Gainsborough. They pretended to be Santa's helpers in order to steal all the Christmas presents.

RAF Celebration Fly Past

Last week we saw an impressive aerial display of aircraft fly over the playground on its way to central  central London to celebrate 100 years of the Royal Air Force. 

The spectacular event will took place as part of a series of special events throughout 2018 to mark the centenary. 

Featuring up to 100 aircraft, the flypast remembered the RAF's creation on April 1, 1918. Thanks to Year 5 for capturing these stunning photographs of the once in a lifetime event!

Year 6 Spanish Teachers

In Year 6, we have been working on a project where the students had to plan a lesson to teach another year group.

This week, Year 6 had to teach their Spanish lessons and they were amazing, we really enjoyed it!

Hispanic Day

Last Friday in Gainsborough we celebrated the Hispanic Day!

We had a very special day because all the year groups cooked a Hispanic recipe.

Nursery and Reception cooked: Pan con tomae
Year 1: nachos
Year 2: sangría
Year 3: tortilla
Year 4: quesadillas
Year 5: guacamole
Year 6: tortilla especial.

 We had so much fun! 

We also wrote the recipes in Spanish so we will share a recipe's book with you soon!










On Friday, we learnt Flamenco music and dance!

Parasol Unit Art Trip

Year 4 Hummingbirds visited Parasol Unit Gallery in Angel. Working with a professional artist and inspired by the current exhibition they invented an imaginary city scape.  The gallery praised our amazing students creativity and our critical thinking skills!

Westfield Design Competition

Stratford Waterfront Design Challenge

We have entered a high profile Architectural Design Competition to design a 'Playable Landscape' for the Queen Elizabeth Park II. Our entry has been submitted to a team of Architects from Allies and Morrison who will now judge the entries in partnership with professionals from V&A, UAL and the Olympic Park Legacy Project.
